Clothing and footwear production is harmful to the planet too!

It seems that in recent years the environment has forced his way into the consciousness of most people the weight of bleak predictions about the consequences of the rapid rise in global temperature.

The greedy car engine gas was in the line of fire for longer, but it is now a realization that everything we buy has a greater or lesser effect on the well-being of the environment and our brothers humans and animals.

The clothing and shoe industries have long escaped any negative control, but recently it became clear that the impact on the environment is as damaging as the others. Many of the chemicals traditionally used to treat and dye the fabrics are carcinogens and pollutants grave if allowed to escape into rivers and streams. This also applies to chemicals used to tan leather and shoe uppers of rubber base oil used in the soles.

Consumption and move east

The problem was aggravated by the gradual shift of production from the relatively controlled (but expensive) work environments in the west, the low labor cost sweat shops' in some Asian countries. Here, animals and human resources can be operated beyond the scope of the umbrella of health and humanitarian compassion and security legislation, many of us take for granted.

The bursting of the "consumption" of recent decades has contributed to these changes people, quite reasonably, want to enjoy the benefits of greater number of products at competitive prices as possible. For example, if you are a female professional tennis player, and you see your favorite tennis player, Ana Ivanovic wearing adidas Barricade V tennis shoes women on television, and your friend at the tennis club buys a pair, you are naturally inclined to want to buy a pair for yourself, (the best possible price), to follow.

The huge multinational corporations to meet such demand know that to stay in business, they must compete in all areas, not least price. They must be very aware of like-for-like their rival's pricing of sneakers.

The "big" meet the public awareness

However, with the sudden leap of awareness of the population to environmental issues, "normal business considerations" for these companies have subtly changed, as evidenced by recent statements by the almost simultaneous "Big Two" sports apparel manufacturers, Adidas and Nike, they stop using leather and other raw material sources of all countries where collateral damage was done to the rainforests. There is no point in the design, production and marketing of a fantastic sneaker cheaply, than to throw many of these positive results, "by partnering with practical people now perceive as injurious to the planet and, possibly, even their health and wellbeing.

To better align themselves with public opinion, both Adidas and Nike now produce athletic shoes with environmental considerations. The pressures have probably been a bit more about that adidas is a German company founded, and Germany has one of the most powerful green movement in the world. In fact, the German "Blue Angel", formed in 1978 and composed of a group of 13.
