Trail Shoes: Hi-Tec Gore Tex vc? What is the difference (s) between "hiking shoes Hi-Tec" and "Gore Tex"? Which is best? Why the big price difference? I need it for the ride when the humidity is very high (~ 90%). Can I use my hiking boots waterproof "shoes" wet for water activities? By the way, are "wet" shoes exactly? Can I wear sandals instead of my hiking boots for water activities when he was mentioned as "wet" shoes must be able to provide complete protection for your feet?
As for the wet shoes of your question, no sandals shoes are not considered wet. You need something that has a complete handle on bottom and can be submerged in water without damaging the shoe.
Look for Salomon Sandals have an idea.
Waterproof hiking boots will keep your feet dry in puddles and rain, but not when they are immersed in water.
Hi-Tec is a brand of shoes. Gore-Tex is a fabric designed to allow moisture, but not in (waterproof breathable).
Hiking Boots: (good shoes)
Designed to support ankle by a higher than laces. The soles are stiff and thick. This allows you to carry loads on the back foot without compromising comfort. Designed to allow the wearer to walk on uneven surfaces, without "feeling" all the rocks and roots. Soles are usually metal rods or graphics (flat, horizontal pieces to your foot) or a molded high-impact distribution of the surface (ie rock) within your entire foot. Can be waterproof if it has a fabric like Gore-Tex built in.
Hiking Shoes: Anywhere from leather to plastic. More rigid than "tennis shoes", but less cut and are generally not designed to carry weight (softer soles). Can be waterproof if it has a fabric like Gore-Tex building in.
Water Shoes: Designed for use in and out of the water and can dry out quickly. leather not. Very breathable and not generally designed for moderate activity of water. They are designed for canoeing, swimming, fishing, etc. You wet them and walk on the rocks and others, but will not wear them for long hikes.
waterproof footwear in general also hold moisture in. Some people may have Gore-Tex boots on their feet and never will be wet. Others who sweat a lot, stay wet, which makes them prone to blisters. If I know I'll be in very wet conditions, I wear boots that are very breathable. Even if they are wet, they dry quickly on the track with a good merino wool (or similar) socks.
Water sports I wear a show that is designed to get wet and has a layer of neoprene that keeps the rocks in my shoe. Saloman not make great shoes. See also Teva.

Have a professional help you fitted for boots. VERY VERY important to have a good fit. sealed chamber in the heel of maneuver in the toe area, and small enough that you do not drag the toes forward downhill. You invariably lose a toenail, because it goes down in black and if you have a lot of runs. I saw it happen.
You get what you pay for.
Waterproof is not always the best and good boots are much more expensive.
Try on boots in a store with good outdoor servants who know what they are talking. Then you can watch online for the shoes you want, you can save a lot of Buck $.
What you need depends on what your activity. Hi-Tec is a company that is very fair trade products. Not bad for what you pay for. Asolo, Vasque, Merrell and are really good and I've never had any problems with any of them.
Hope this helps!
I have Hi-tec shoes, because I could not goretex boots good and work very well. DONT wear sandals! I do not care if you think they are comfortable that if it ruins your feet.
