My child is close to being overweight and I can not understand why!? My daughter is 6 years old at the border of being overweight. It started 2 years ago when she was 4 and the pediatrician has mentioned in his visit. Last year, she has dropped a little and was in the normal range, but this year is new. I can not understand why she is on the large side!
1. She has always had good appetite but she eats well. I do not allow sodas, she rarely has juice or a "juice drinks. She drinks water and milk (skim) mainly. We do not eat much fried food, she loves fruit and milk and cheese (I limit), we do not have much to snack between meals, even if sometimes the goldfish or Ritz crackers are a snack afternoon. She eats healthy portions of food for our dinner, and desserts are casual. We're a snack at bedtime, but it is often a bowl of cereal. Sometimes we fast food or birthday cake too but it is not an exception rule.
2. It is what I would describe as moderately active. Although she loves the arts and craft, I always work hard with her to get her moving. It is one that requires a little kick start but once it gets going, it has activity. For example, roller skates, she skates, takes gymnastics, rope jumping, join in games and outdoor play kickball on our jungle gym and swim several times a week in summer. She likes to take our dog for walks along the street and she is contantly turning the wheel and the interior and somersaults.
My husband and I are both tall and thin and there was no history of obesity. I'm starting to get very concerned for the health implications and I am really worried about this stage is not. Her sister is 10 and she is very thin now if it was a big kid in his years in kindergarten and preschool. I was hoping that the girl is 2 road would be on but it just seems to be hovering around that mark the boundary. Interestingly, as a child and up to 3 years, she measured on the small side of it and jump percentages between the ages of 3 and 4.
I have an appointment with the pediatrician, but I wanted to see if someone out there reading this has ideas or experience in this regard. Looking specifically if there are medical conditions that are out there that can lead to weight gain in a healthy infant. I want to go into the office of Dr. a list of things they can verify.
Thank you.
Your daughter could be thyroid. The thyroid is a small butterfly shaped gland located in the lower neck. The function of a gland is to secrete hormones. The main hormones released by the thyroid are triiodothyronine, abbreviated as T3, and thyroxine, abbreviated as T4. These thyroid hormone supply energy to body cells. That means that the butterfly can change its weight.
But fear not, it could simply not enough exercise
I hope this helped
I know soo many children who have been songs in elementary school and a little cleared at puberty. So she can not get thin until she gets a growth spurt. Looks like you're doing everything, and it is healthy, then I wouldnt be too worried too:)
