WASHINGTON - The government paid more than $ 47 billion Medicare bad debts including medical evidence that little relationship to patients 'conditions, wasting taxpayers' money at a rate nearly three times the year before.

Excerpts from a new federal report, obtained by The Associated Press, show a dramatic increase in irregular payments in the program of $ 440 billion of Medicare has been cited by government auditors as a high risk of fraud and wasted 20 years.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will also launch an interactive website next month that will allow users to track information for payment of health insurance by categories such as status, diagnosis and hospital.
