Preparing for Your Road Trip It's that time of year to travel on the road. Whether you and your friends or family there are some things to consider before driving off into the sunset. With a little time and preparation of pre-trip route, you could save yourself potential problems and large males.
To begin, take your car in some all-in maintenance. What should be checked following
1. Windshield wipers - Check the material condition of the blades (it should be soft and pliable) for cracks or separation of the blade retainer.
2. Lights - Check turn signals, headlights and brake lights, ensuring their proper functioning. It's a good idea to have checked the headlights for proper alignment in order to have optimal lighting and avoid "blind" for oncoming drivers.
3. Tires - Check tires for uneven or excessive wear and tire pressure. It is important to check the tire pressure when tires are cold. The recommended tire pressure supplied by manufacturers of vehicles and tires are designed to accommodate the increase in tire pressure caused by the rise in temperature of the tire rolling on the highway.
4. Fluid Levels - Lift the hood and check the engine oil, automatic transmission fluid, brake fluid, steering fluid, radiator coolant and windshield washer fluid levels. Complete where appropriate.
Five. Belts & Hoses - Check hoses for a good fit, leakage, weak, loose clamps, and softness in the areas of the elbow. In the case of belts, check the alignment, glazing, fitting, and tearing and cracking. Replace if necessary.
6. Air conditioning - Test System A / C to see if it works and cooling the vehicle to a reasonable time. In addition, inspect the coolant lines for evidence of leakage. Remember, most late-model vehicle, the defrost system uses air conditioning more efficient defrosting and defogging.
Seven. Battery Connections - Check / clean battery terminals and cable terminals for the accumulation of corrosion. white fuzz around the terminal wire ends at the battery terminals can easily identify a problem of corrosion. Cleaning or removal of the white fuzz requires the removal of cable terminals down after washing with a solution of baking soda and water. The best cleaning results can be achieved by using a tool of the battery cable and terminal cleaning. Running this little maintenance activity that guarantees optimal performance of the vehicle's electrical system.
8. Leakage of fluid - Examine the ground where you park your car for leaks. All liquid waste must be examined to find the type of fluid (gas, engine or transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, radiator coolant, windshield washer fluid), and the leak repaired immediately avoid problems.
9. Exhaust leaks - Listen / look for leaks in the exhaust, and if something seems marginal, have the system checked by a professional mechanic shop / silent before leaving for your trip. The life you save may be yourself, that the gases escaping the system are very deadly.
10. Brakes - Test the response vehicle and brake feel. Listen for the sounds (harsh noise, correct or deaf). Look for fluid leaks from flexible brake hoses and steel brake lines. If you think your mechanical expertise is limited in this area, I recommend you take a look at your brakes professional to advise you on the condition of the lining, brake drums, rotors and hydraulic system. It is important that the vehicle always be ready to stop, regardless of driving conditions.
Once your car is in perfect condition, make sure you have a basic emergency kit on board. contents of the kit can be dependent on where you go. If you go o.
