Hiking Boot Fit Question? I have a pair of boots Asolo FSN 85 I really like. I logged about 300 miles and they feel great. I'm looking to buy a few more pairs of boots now and cut this winter so I have backups ready for direct input AT-hiking.
Recently I tried the Vasque Breeze and they felt great ... but I'm a size 12.5 and 12 is too small, 13 is too big.
The seller had to try a size 13 narrow, which felt about Perfect - much more comfortable than the first time I tried the Asolo.
My question is this: I overpronate and I've never worn shoes before close. I am wary of starting now because I've never needed them before. Is there a significant difference between the regular and narrow widths? Am I in trouble?
Have you similar experiences? What would you do: stick with more Asolo try Breeze close? How to change the idea of boots for a different model, in the midst of a hike?
Thank you, and Happy Trails!
I would stick with what you have done.
I guess I'm a little biased, as the last two pairs of hiking, I bought were Asolo (two pairs are still bombproof and startup miles). But more specifically, you do not want to throw too much in the mix.
I guess you companies with the sock / slipper combo you'll hike with?
I love a perfect start installation, but they tend to take action if I compensate with sock / liners that eat the difference (we all know that the cowardly bunch will end up quicker than anything I'm not describe or recommend a too loose).
Perhaps a better time for the hearing of a new start-up size / brand / style would be less committed to a hike or a series of decent but not huge trial trips.
Asolo, Vasque, Danner, etc. All large boxes - but dude if you at least you're a hiker SERIOUS (not hiker, btw) - you should really consider Limmers - custom made to fit your foot and absolutely shielded - you'll be pushin up daisies "before they wear out (Norwegian welt allows Soling) - Take a look at - http://www.limmerboot.com/
not to buy pairs of boots before you start your hike through AT. She simply does not work! Many hikers notice a real difference in the size of the shoes they need by the end of a hike and you're left with a pile of shoes that do not. most through hikers I meet here in CT have waived heavy boots and are only wearing running shoes. whiteblaze is an excellent site for all things related to AT
Limmer boots will last form of Georgia to Maine. While a decision on the size you should be the board in great shape. If you need a custom format is willing to wait. white boots in Spokane makes great boots, too. I am not personally aware of their hiking boots, but their logging boots are second to none. They are the boots around your feet and is perfect. You track and measure each foot and send him. Do not wait. They sometimes have a waiting list. If you have trouble adjusting feet, are white boots to buy. The boots perfectly, if the break is almost instantaneous.
