I also wore a shoe with a closed toe slingback. It is easier to fit the widest part at the base and the narrow heel. They were also fairly flat (maybe 1 to 11 / 2 "heel) so they were comfortable. I bought my shoes (which are apartments - had reason to flats in two ankle reconstructions) ... to the wedding of David. They are really reasonably priced and they have several styles of great width.
